The Fox Lake Subdivision is a railway line in the state of Illinois in the United States. It runs {{convert|17.5|mi}} from a junction with the C&M Subdivision of the CPKC Railway at Rondout, Illinois, to a junction with the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad at Fox Lake, Illinois. Metra, the commuter rail authority for the Chicago area, owns and operates the line. The line hosts Milwaukee District North Line commuter trains.{{cite web | title=Illinois State Rail Plan | date=2012 | url=https://idot.illinois.gov/Assets/uploads/files/Transportation-System/Reports/OP&P/Plans/Illinois%20State%20Rail%20Plan%202012.pdf | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150913071656/http://www.idot.illinois.gov/Assets/uploads/files/Transportation-System/Reports/OP&P/Plans/Illinois%20State%20Rail%20Plan%202012.pdf | url-status=dead | archive-date=September 13, 2015 | publisher=Illinois Department of Transportation | pages=4–16 }} The entire line is single tracked, with the exception of a passing siding at Grayslake. The line is part of the former Milwaukee Road route between Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin. The Wisconsin & Southern owns the portion between Fox Lake and Janesville, Wisconsin, and has trackage rights over the Metra portion.{{cite magazine | title=Wisconsin & Southern at 25 | last=Glischinski | first=Steve | date=October 2005 | magazine=Trains | volume=65 | issue=10 | pages=41–43 | issn=0041-0934}} The tracks north of Metra's Fox Lake station host exclusively freight traffic.
