Fulton Speedway is a 3/8th mile high bank dirt oval raceway in Volney, New York. The track was built into a hilly area on the banks of the Oswego River in a natural bowl, with seating high above the track, on a hill.

History

Millard “Bub” Benway and his brother Ray used their construction business, Benway Bros. Construction, to build a 1/3 mile paved oval under the name Mil-Ray Raceway.{{cite web|url=https://rushlatemodels.com/Fulton%202017%20story.htm|title=Fulton Set to begin 3RD year as a Sweeney Rush Late Model weekly series track|access-date=2020-07-28}} The first event was held June 24th, 1961, and a 1/8 mile dragstrip began operations on July 15, 1962, and ran for a decade.{{cite web|url= http://www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks/NY/Fulton.html#TrackFacts|title=Race Tracks-Fulton Speedway|publisher=North American Motorsports Pages |access-date=2020-07-28}} Veteran driver Dutt Yanni captured the first track championship.{{cite news|title=1961 Milray Speedway crown is won by Dutt Yanni|url=https://www.newspaperarchive.com/us/new-york/oswego/oswego-palladium-times/1961/10-02/page-8 |newspaper=Palladium Times|location=Oswego NY |page=8 |date= October 2, 1961 |via=NewspaperArchive |accessdate=February 10, 2025}}

Asphalt racing was on the weekly schedule until 1978. The track was reopened as a 3/8 mile dirt oval in 1979.{{cite web|url= https://apexautomag.com/2017/08/excitement-high-banks-fulton-speedway/#:~:text=Fulton%20Speedway%20has%20been%20both,a%20dirt%20oval%20in%201979|title=Excitement on the High Banks: Fulton Speedway|publisher= Apex Automotive Magazine |access-date=2020-07-28}}

in July 1998, Harvey, Joan, and David Fink purchased the track. Since 2009, the track, along with the Brewerton Speedway, has been owned by John and Laura Wight.{{cite web|url= https://www.syracuse.com/news/2009/03/john_wight_to_buy_brewerton_an.html|title =John Wight to buy Brewerton and Fulton speedways|publisher = Syracuse.com| access-date=2020-07-28}} The Wights previously owned the Can-Am Speedway.

Outlaw 200

In 1986, Benway presented a 200-lap event, featuring small-block modifieds, dubbing it the Victoria 200 in honor of his recently deceased wife.{{cite news|last=Medler|first=Dave|title=Fulton Speedway Countdown Is On For 28th Annual Outlaw 200 Weekend|url=https://oswegocountytoday.com/sports/fulton-speedway-countdown-is-on-for-28th-annual-outlaw-200-wekend-billy-pauch-wins-first-victoria-200-in-1986/|publisher=Oswego County Today|date=September 5, 2013|accessdate=September 10, 2024}} The event grew to be one of the most prestigious Modified races in the Northeast, and while motor rules were opened up to include big-block engines for a period, in 2023 the race returned to its roots as a small-block program.{{cite news|last=O'Brien|first=Dick|title=Fulton’s Outlaw 200 to return to a 358 modified race Saturday|url=https://www.syracuse.com/sports/2023/09/fultons-outlaw-200-to-return-to-a-358-modified-race-saturday.html|date=September 28, 2023|newspaper=The Post-Standard|location=Syracuse NY|accessdate=September 10, 2024}}
