The G type Adelaide tram was a class of four single truck Birney trams manufactured by the US firm J.G. Brill Company. They arrived in completely knocked down form and were assembled by the Municipal Tramways Trust in 1924.{{cite book|title=Destination Paradise|date=1975|publisher=Australian Electric Traction Association|location=Sydney|page=28}}
They were used exclusively on the isolated Port Adelaide network, mainly on the lightly trafficked Rosewater line to either Semaphiore or Largs."The Port Adelaide Tramways 1879-1935" Trolley Wire issue 262 August 1995 pages 19/20[http://www.hawthorntramdepot.org.au/papers/birney.htm Birney Safety Cars in Melbourne] Melbourne Tram Museum After that closed in 1935, all were sold to the State Electricity Commission of Victoria and placed in service in Geelong."The Port Adelaide Tramways 1879-1935" Trolley Wire issue 264 February 1996 pages 2/3 In 1947, they were transferred to Bendigo. One was scrapped in 1956 after an accident, while the other three remained in service until the system closed in April 1972."Adelaide's Toastrack Trams" Trolley Wire issue 258 August 1994 page 3[http://www.trammuseumadelaide.com/413552654 G type tram 303 (1924)] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20171104084132/http://www.trammuseumadelaide.com/413552654 |date=4 November 2017 }} Tramway Museum, St Kilda[http://www.bendigotramways.com/images/stories/pdf/aboutpreservedtrams.pdf #303 Single Tram Truck] Bendigo Tramways Trust
