Bowls career
Kelly competed in the first World Bowls Championship in Kyeemagh, New South Wales, Australia in 1966 {{cite book|last=Ampol Petroleum Ltd|title=First World Bowls Championship Pre ISBN|year=1966|publisher=Public Relations Dept, Ampol Petroleum Ltd, Sydney, Australia}} and won a gold medal in the pairs with Bert Palm at the event.{{cite web|url=http://www.burnsidebowlingclub.com/worldbowls2008/275.html|title=World Bowls Champions|publisher=Burnside Bowling Club}} He also won a gold medal in the team event (Leonard Trophy).
