Description
Ginataang labong is prepared by first boiling the julienned or thinly-sliced bamboo shoots until tender. For pre-boiled bamboo shoots, they are simply soaked for an hour before using to remove the sliminess. Garlic, onions, and ginger are then sauteed on a pan. Coconut milk is then added with the bamboo shoots, secondary ingredients (usually shrimp, fish, pork, or crab), along with the rest of the spices (like chilis, fish sauce, or lemongrass). Other vegetables can also be added, including jute mallow, chili pepper leaves, carrots, and tomatoes. It is served with white rice.{{cite web |title=Ginataang Labong or Tambo with Hipon Recipe |url=https://www.atbp.ph/2017/02/05/ginataang-labong-tambo-hipon-recipe/ |website=Atbp.ph |access-date=April 25, 2019}}{{cite web |title=Ginataang Labong or Tambo with Hipon |url=https://www.mamasguiderecipes.com/2017/04/30/ginataang-labong-or-tambo-with-hipon/ |website=Mama's Guide Recipes |access-date=April 25, 2019}}{{cite web |title=Ginataang Labong (Bamboo Shoots in coconut milk) |url=https://www.atbp.ph/2016/07/11/ginataang-labong-bamboo-shoots-coconut-milk/ |website=Atbp.ph |access-date=April 25, 2019}}{{cite web |title=Ginataang Labong Recipe or Bamboo Shoots in Coconut Milk |url=https://www.pinoyrecipe.net/ginataang-labong-recipe-or-bamboo-shoots-in-coconut-milk/ |website=Pinoy Recipes At Iba Pa |access-date=April 25, 2019}}{{cite web |title=Ginataang Labong |url=http://www.pinoykitchenette.com/2012/06/ginataang-labong.html |website=Pinoy Kitchenette |access-date=April 25, 2019}}{{cite web |title=Ginataang Labong - Bamboo Shoots in Coconut Milk |url=https://aussietaste.com.au/asian-cuisine/south-east-asian-cuisine/filipino-cuisine/ginataang-labong-bamboo-shoots-in-coconut-milk/ |website=Aussie Taste |access-date=April 25, 2019}}{{cite web |title=Ginataang Labong at Hipon |url=http://www.filipinochow.com/ginataang-labong-hipon/ |website=Filipino Chow |access-date=April 25, 2019}}
