Glenthorne ({{gbmapping|SS800497}}) is a 13.3 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in the parish of Oare within the Exmoor National Park, on the border of Somerset and Devon, notified in 1989.

Glenthorne is a Geological Conservation Review site because of the Trentishoe Formation of the Hangman Sandstone Group. The Hangman Sandstone represents the Middle Devonian sequence of North Devon and Somerset.[http://www.english-nature.org.uk/Special/sssi/sssi_details.cfm?sssi_id=1002137 English Nature web side for the site] {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110525064155/http://www.english-nature.org.uk/Special/sssi/sssi_details.cfm?sssi_id=1002137 |date=May 25, 2011 }} These are unusual freshwater deposits in the Hangman Grits, which were mainly formed in desert conditions.{{cite web|url=http://www.exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk/index/learning_about/looking_after_landscape/geology.htm |title=Geology |accessdate=15 November 2008 |publisher=Exmoor National Park |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20081121210607/http://www.exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk/index/learning_about/looking_after_landscape/geology.htm |archivedate=21 November 2008 }}
