Career

Hanevold won medals in biathlon events at the 1998 Winter Olympics and the 2002 Winter Olympics by winning his first Olympic gold followed by another gold four years later. He won the bronze medal in the men's 20 km individual and the silver medal in the men's 10 km sprint at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Hanevold participated in 16 World Championships from 1994 to 2009. In his career, he recorded 40 podiums at World Cup level, with the last podium being in the final race of his final season.

Death
