He served as cabinet minister in Government of Haryana. He was also elected to the Lok Sabha in 1984. He was a member of the Indian National Congress.

Political career

He served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in both Punjab and Haryana assemblies and later as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha from Rohtak constituency (1984–1989). He held the position of cabinet minister in Government of Haryana under B. D. Sharma ministry in 1966 and then in Birender Singh ministry in 1967 for education department.
