American actress and singer Hilary Duff has released five studio albums, two extended plays (EPs), one live album, four compilation albums, five video albums, 21 singles, four promotional singles, and 16 music videos. Duff released her debut studio album Santa Claus Lane through Buena Vista Records in October 2002. The holiday album peaked at numbers 95, 134, and 154 respectively in Canada, Japan, and the United States, and later was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Its title track and "Tell Me a Story" were released as singles, and both failed to chart.
In 2003, her second studio album Metamorphosis was released by Buena Vista and Hollywood Records. The album topped the American and Canadian charts and sold five million copies worldwide.{{cite news|url=http://archive.seacoastonline.com/2004news/dover/12312004/arts/56606.htm|title=Hilary Duff comes to Manchester on Jan. 27|date=December 31, 2004|newspaper=The Portsmouth Herald|access-date=December 6, 2009|archive-date=July 1, 2007|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070701080506/http://archive.seacoastonline.com/2004news/dover/12312004/arts/56606.htm|url-status=live}} It spawned the singles "So Yesterday" and "Come Clean", which reached the top 10 within Canada and the Netherlands. Metamorphosis was the breakthrough release for Hollywood Records, becoming the first album in the label's history to earn that much success.
Duff's third studio album, the self-titled Hilary Duff, was released in 2004 and peaked at the second position on the US Billboard 200 while topping the Canadian Albums Chart. The album spawned the worldwide single "Fly" and was also promoted with an Australian-only single; "Someone's Watching Over Me". In 2005, she released her first compilation album, Most Wanted, which became her first album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200.{{cite news|url=http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1508240/20050824/duff_hilary.jhtml|title=Hilary Duff Scores First Billboard #1 With Most Wanted LP|last=Harris|first=Chris|date=August 24, 2005|agency=MTV News|access-date=February 12, 2010|archive-date=November 5, 2012|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20121105200020/http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1508240/hilary-duff-scores-first-1-with-most-wanted.jhtml|url-status=dead}} The album spawned the singles "Wake Up" and "Beat of My Heart", which both peaked in the top ten in Italy. Duff's fourth studio album, Dignity, was released in 2007 and reached the top ten in the US, Canada, and Italy. The lead single "Play with Fire" failed to make an impact on national charts, though it did begin a string of American club hits for Duff, peaking at the 31st position on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart.{{cite web|url={{BillboardURLbyName|artist=Hilary Duff|chart=Dance/Club Play Songs}}|title=Dance/Club Play Songs|publisher=Billboard |access-date=November 3, 2013}} The second single "With Love" became her highest-peaking single on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 24, while also reaching number one on the club charts along with the album's final single "Stranger".{{cite web|url=https://www.billboard.com/artist/hilary-duff/chart-history/hot-100|title=Billboard Hot 100|publisher=Billboard|access-date=November 3, 2013|archive-date=November 21, 2021|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20211121093239/https://www.billboard.com/artist/hilary-duff/chart-history/hot-100/|url-status=live}} She scored her third consecutive number-one club hit with "Reach Out", the lead single from her first greatest hits release Best of Hilary Duff (2008).
