The positive outcome was partly due to the diligence of airport supervisor Sergey Sotnikov in keeping the runway clear of vegetation and debris even after the airport was closed to traffic in 2003. Sotnikov was later awarded the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" by the President of Russia.{{cite news|url=http://www.komiinform.ru/news/74029/|script-title=ru:Начальник ижемской вертолетной площадки Сергей Сотников остался доволен общением с Путиным|last=Карпов|first=Алексей|date=23 December 2010|publisher=ИА Комиинформ|language=ru|access-date=19 August 2013}}}}
