Jacob Weingreen (January 1908 – 11 April 1995[https://www.irishtimes.com/news/memorial-service-for-noted-hebrew-scholar-1.61203 Memorial service for noted Hebrew scholar]) was an Irish professor of Hebrew in Trinity College, Dublin – School of Religion and Theology{{Cite book |last=Tigay |first=Alan M. |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=v3Pf4qand_8C&dq=Jacob+Weingreen&pg=PA167 |title=The Jewish Traveler: Hadassah Magazine's Guide to the World's Jewish Communities and Sights |date=1994 |publisher=Rowman & Littlefield |isbn=978-1-56821-078-0 |language=en}} between 1939 and 1979.
He excavated in Samaria and maintained contact with archaeologists who donated pieces to the Weingreen Museum of Biblical Antiquities which was named after him.{{Cite book |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=d8Q-AQAAIAAJ&q=weingreen+museum+jacob+weingreen |title=Encyclopaedia Judaica Year Book |date=1983 |publisher=Encyclopaedia Judaica. |language=en}} Professor Weingreen was the author of A Practical Grammar for Classical Hebrew, a textbook that is still recognized as the standard teaching work on the subject. In 1961 Weingreen was president of the Society for Old Testament Study.
