Political career

Gesenhues has been a member of the Bundestag since 2021, representing the Steinfurt III district. In February 2024 he was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection in the coalition government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz to succeed his predecessor Christian Kühn.
