Japan–Palestine relations are the relations between Japan and the Palestinian National Authority.

Although the two countries have friendly relations, Japan does not recognize Palestine as a sovereign state but as the Palestinian National Authority.

Before Japan and Palestine established official relations, one serious incident was triggered. Three Japanese Red Army terrorists, in coordination with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, killed 26 people in an indiscriminate shooting at the passenger terminal of Lod Airport on May 30, 1972.[https://israeled.org/26-killed-in-lod-airport-massacre/ 26 Killed in Lod Airport Massacre | CIE]

Arafat paid additional four visits to Japan between 1996 and 2000.

Japanese Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama also paid a visit, the first of its kind, to the Palestinian Authority in 1995. In October 2001, former Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto denied the existence of a direct link between the roots of international terrorism and the Palestinian people's struggle for their legitimate rights and called on Israel to implement international resolutions to advance the peace process.

Japan’s support to Palestine
