The Arcachonnais is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a fractional sloop rig, with a deck-stepped mast and aluminum spars. The hull has a raked stem, an angled transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller and a fixed stub keel with a retractable centerboard. It displaces {{convert|871|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|198|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast.
The boat has a draft of {{convert|3.44|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the centerboard extended and {{convert|1.41|ft|m|abbr=on}} with it retracted, allowing operation in shallow water or ground transportation on a boat trailer.
The boat is normally fitted with a small outboard motor for docking and maneuvering.
The design has sleeping accommodation for two people, with a double "V"-berth in the bow cabin.
The design has a hull speed of {{convert|5.39|kn|km/h|abbr=on}}.
