The Arcachonnais is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a fractional sloop rig, with a deck-stepped mast and aluminum spars. The hull has a raked stem, an angled transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller and a fixed stub keel with a retractable centerboard. The boat has a draft of {{convert|3.44|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the centerboard extended and {{convert|1.41|ft|m|abbr=on}} with it retracted, allowing operation in shallow water or ground transportation on a boat trailer.
