The headquarters of the magazine in Paris has been attacked in France two times, once, in 1986, and the other time, in January 1987.{{cite news|title=Paris shooting: A timeline of violent attacks on French media|date=7 January 2015|location=Paris|url=http://www.thestar.com.my/News/World/2015/01/07/Paris-shooting-Timeline-of-violent-attacks-on-French-media/|access-date=7 May 2015|work=The Star|archive-date=13 July 2018|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180713231554/https://www.thestar.com.my/news/world/2015/01/07/paris-shooting-timeline-of-violent-attacks-on-french-media/|url-status=live}} Responsibility for the latter attack was claimed by the French nationalist Charles Martel Group.

The magazine has an edition published for Tunisia, which has been suspended several times for covering sensitive news concerning the country.{{cite book|author1=Daniel Jacobs|author2=Peter Morris|title=The Rough Guide to Tunisia|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=k2By-NdV93AC&pg=PP55|access-date=12 October 2014|year=2001|publisher=Rough Guides|isbn=978-1-85828-748-5|page=55}} For instance, from July 1984 to January 1985 it was banned in the country. The COVID-19 crisis and the print media situation in France has led to the ongoing digitalization of Jeune Afrique. In early December 2020, Jeune Afrique's management announced the first redundancy plan in its history due to declining economic results caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.{{Cite web |date=2020-10-07 |title=Jeune Afrique engage un PSE portant sur une vingtaine de postes |url=https://www.strategies.fr/actualites/medias/4050712W/jeune-afrique-engage-un-pse-portant-sur-une-vingtaine-de-postes.html |access-date=2023-01-26 |website=Stratégies |language=fr |archive-date=26 January 2023 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230126122415/https://www.strategies.fr/actualites/medias/4050712W/jeune-afrique-engage-un-pse-portant-sur-une-vingtaine-de-postes.html |url-status=live }}
