History
The faction was established on 2 June 2008 when three MKs from Gil (Moshe Sharoni, Elhanan Glazer and Sarah Marom) left the party.[https://www.knesset.gov.il/faction/eng/FactionHistoryAll_eng.asp Mergers and Splits Among Parliamentary Groups] Knesset website Glazer had initially decided not to quit Gil after being promised a Deputy Ministerial post (a decision which Sharoni claimed he would sue Glazer for NIS 2 million for),{{cite news |author=Lily Galili |author2=Mazal Mualem |url=http://www.haaretz.com/news/breakaway-pensioners-agree-to-represent-gaydamak-in-knesset-1.244827 |title=Breakaway Pensioners agree to represent Gaydamak in Knesset |work=Haaretz |date=29 April 2008 |access-date=23 January 2014}} but eventually changed his mind again and left the party.
The faction was initially planned to be associated with the Social Justice party, with three MKs promised places in the top five on the Social Justice list in the next elections and Sharoni a senior cabinet post, as well as funding amounting to tens of thousands of shekels a month.{{cite news |author=Yair Ettinger |url=http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/gaydamak-former-pensioners-set-sights-on-cabinet-1.245292 |title=Gaydamak, former Pensioners set sights on cabinet seats |work=Haaretz |date=5 May 2008 |access-date=23 January 2014}} Gil MK Yitzhak Galanti stated that the "move could result in Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah or Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also 'buying' a Knesset faction to represent their views".{{cite news |author=Shahar Ilan |url=http://www.haaretz.com/news/pensioners-faction-head-if-gaydamak-can-buy-a-knesset-party-so-can-nasrallah-1.246043 |title=Pensioners faction head: If Gaydamak can buy a Knesset party, so can Nasrallah |work=Haaretz |date=18 May 2008 |access-date=23 January 2014}} However, the agreement was later cancelled.{{cite news |url=http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/news-in-brief-ii-1.247116 |title=News in Brief II |newspaper=Haaretz |date=4 June 2008 |access-date=23 January 2014}}
On 15 October 2008 Sharoni announced that the faction was to merge back into Gil.{{cite news |author=Mazal Mualem |url=http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/pensioners-reunite-with-breakaway-justice-for-elderly-1.255570 |title=Pensioners reunite with breakaway Justice for Elderly |newspaper=Haaretz |date=16 October 2008 |access-date=23 January 2014}} The merger went ahead on 27 October, although Elhanan Glazer broke away to establish another new faction, The Right Way.
