History

Kfar Aviv was founded in 1952 by the Jewish Agency on the lands of the Palestinian village of Yibna.{{cite book|title=All That Remains: The Palestinian Villages Occupied and Depopulated by Israel in 1948|first1=Walid|last1=Khalidi|authorlink=Walid Khalidi|year=1992|location=Washington D.C.|publisher=Institute for Palestine Studies|ISBN=0-88728-224-5|page=423}} The settlement was intended to absorb Jewish immigrants and refugees from Egypt. Its original name was Kfar HaYeor ({{langx|he|כפר היאור}}; lit. Village of the Nile). The name "Kfar Aviv" was given as a reference to the Exodus of the Jews from Egypt, which occurred in spring as recorded in the Torah (Exodus 34:18). As time passed, the village absorbed families from Poland.{{Cite book| publisher = Mapa Publishing| isbn = 965-7184-34-7| pages = 282|editor-first=Yuval |editor-last=El'azari| title = Mapa's concise gazetteer of Israel| location = Tel-Aviv| year = 2005|language=he}}

The land area used for farming covers about 2,000 dunams. Most inhabitants of the village work elsewhere.{{Cite web
