Kiplin is a small hamlet and civil parish in the county of North Yorkshire, England. The population of the civil parish in 2015 was estimated by North Yorkshire County Council to be 60. Toponym
The place-name was first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, in the form Chipeling. The name probably means "the settlement of the Cippelings (the people of Cippa)". History
Kiplin was a manor in the ancient parish of Catterick in the North Riding of Yorkshire. In the middle ages it belonged to the Abbey of St Agatha. Kiplin became a separate civil parish in 1866. From 1894 to 1974 it was part of Northallerton Rural District.{{cite vob|name=Kiplin CP/Tn | url=https://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/unit/10440865 | accessdate=6 March 2025}} In 1974 it was transferred to the new county of North Yorkshire. From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the district of Hambleton, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council.
