Early life

Kontihene was born in the 1920s.{{Cite web |title=Kontihene Profile and Discography {{!}} African Music Library |url=https://africanmusiclibrary.org/artist/Kontihene |access-date=2024-12-24 |website=africanmusiclibrary.org}} He grew up in the city of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He had his basic education at the Martyrs of Uganda School and went on to Opoku Ware Secondary School.
