Kotavi ({{Langx|sa|कोटवी|translit=Koṭavī}}) is an asuri in Hindu mythology and the tutelary goddess of the race of daityas. She is also identified with the goddess Durga. In the Puranas, she is depicted as the mother of Banasura. In a desperate attempt to save her son's life in his battle against Krishna, she appears unclad in front of the latter, though the deity still slices his arms.{{Cite book |last=Stutley |first=Margaret and James |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=tQWQDwAAQBAJ&dq=Ko%E1%B9%ADav%C4%AB&pg=PT278 |title=A Dictionary of Hinduism: Its Mythology, Folklore and Development 1500 B.C.-A.D. 1500 |date=2019-04-09 |publisher=Routledge |isbn=978-0-429-62754-5 |pages=278 |language=en}}{{Cite book |last=Kinsley |first=David R. |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=y9sLZdaMkvsC&pg=PA146 |title=Tantric Visions of the Divine Feminine: The Ten Mahāvidyās |date=1998 |publisher=Motilal Banarsidass Publ. |isbn=978-81-208-1523-0 |pages=146 |language=en}}{{Cite book |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=zWM0EAAAQBAJ&dq=Ko%E1%B9%ADav%C4%AB&pg=PA427 |title=The Visnu Purana: Ancient Annals of the God with Lotus Eyes |date=2021-06-23 |publisher=ANU Press |isbn=978-1-76046-441-7 |pages=427 |language=en}}
