The Lancia Tipo 4 was an Italian aircraft engine constructed by Lancia in the mid-1910s.
History
This water-cooled V-12 aircraft engine was built in 1916 and had a 50-degree angle between the cylinder banks. The Tipo 4 had a {{convert|4.75|in|mm|1|abbr=on|order=flip}} bore and a {{convert|7.09|in|mm|1|abbr=on|order=flip}} stroke. The engine’s total displacement was {{convert|1508|cuin|L|1|abbr=on|order=flip}}. It produced {{convert|320|hp|kW|abbr=on|order=flip}} at 1,380 rpm and {{convert|380|hp|kW|abbr=on|order=flip}} at 1,420 rpm. The Tipo 4 engine was direct drive and weighed {{convert|740|lb|kg|abbr=on|order=flip}}. The engine shipped to the United States in late 1917.{{cite web|url=https://oldmachinepress.com/2014/03/09/lancia-v-12-aircraft-engine/|title=Lancia Tipo 4 and Tipo 5 V-12 Aircraft Engines|website=Old Machine Press|accessdate=2018-07-11}}
