Lanigan is surrounded by the RM of Usborne No. 310 and is about {{convert|2|km}} west of Lanigan Creek{{Cite web|url=http://www4.rncan.gc.ca/search-place-names/unique/HATOJ|title=Place names - Lanigan Creek|first=Natural Resources Canada|last=Government of Canada|website=www4.rncan.gc.ca}} and about {{convert|10|km}} west of Jansen Lake. The Quill Lakes are about {{convert|34|km}} to the east along the Yellowhead Highway.
Sports and recreation
