This is a list of Italian regions by highest point.Il libro dei Fatti 2001, AA.VV., adn Kronos libri, Rome, 2000 There are 20 regions, but in one case (Serra Dolcedorme) the highest point is shared between two of them (Basilicata and CalabriaSerra Dolcedorme, Italy, page on [http://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=18410 www.peakbagger.com] accessed on 23-12-2015), so there are only 19 highest points listed.
