History of diplomatic relations

Diplomatic relations at the mission level between the Soviet Union and Angola were first established in November 1975.{{cite web|url=http://www.knowbysight.info/6_MID/08136.asp|publisher=knowbysight.info|title=Посольство СССР в Анголе|language=Russian|accessdate=29 September 2019|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120227061552/http://www.knowbysight.info/6_MID/08136.asp|archive-date=27 February 2012|url-status=dead}} The first ambassador, {{interlanguage link|Boris Vorobyov (diplomat)|ru|Воробьёв, Борис Сергеевич|lt=Boris Vorobyov}}, was appointed on 3 March 1976, and presented his credentials on 16 April 1976. With the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Soviet ambassador, {{interlanguage link|Yury Kapralov|ru|Капралов, Юрий Семёнович}}, continued as representative of the Russian Federation until 1995.
