Background
The group sparked numerous reunion rumors after they were booked to play several music festivals in Canada, for the summer of 2013. The girls performed at the Craven Country Jamboree,{{cite web |url=http://blog.gactv.com/blog/2012/12/28/dixie-chicks-replace-lady-antebellum-at-craven-country-jamboree/ |title=Dixie Chicks Replace Lady Antebellum at Craven Country Jamboree|author=Wyland, Sarah |date=28 December 2012 |work=Great American Country |publisher=Scripps Networks Interactive |accessdate=23 November 2013|archiveurl=http://www.freezepage.com/1385191444CSNRJKXQLG?url=http://blog.gactv.com/blog/2012/12/28/dixie-chicks-replace-lady-antebellum-at-craven-country-jamboree/ |archivedate=23 November 2013}} Cavendish Beach Music Festival{{cite web |url=http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/prince-edward-island/cavendish-music-fest-draws-huge-crowds-1.1365204 |title=Cavendish music fest draws huge crowds|author= |date=8 July 2013 |work=CBC News |publisher=Canadian Broadcasting Corporation |accessdate=23 November 2013|archiveurl=http://www.freezepage.com/1385191614GGPBQSEDJL?url=http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/prince-edward-island/cavendish-music-fest-draws-huge-crowds-1.1365204 |archivedate=23 November 2013}} and the RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest.{{cite web |url=http://www.ottawasun.com/2013/07/06/much-anticipated-return-of-the-dixie-chicks-was-not-something-to-miss |title=Much-anticipated return of the Dixie Chicks was not something to miss at Bluesfest|author=Helmer, Aedan |date=6 July 2013 |work=Ottawa Sun |publisher=Quebecor |accessdate=23 November 2013|archiveurl=http://www.freezepage.com/1385191748DOEHYBMEUD?url=http://www.ottawasun.com/2013/07/06/much-anticipated-return-of-the-dixie-chicks-was-not-something-to-miss |archivedate=23 November 2013}} The festival shows received rave reviews from music critics, prompting the group to launch a tour in the fall of 2013. Announced in August 2013, the tour initially showed ten shows in Canada.{{cite web |url=http://theboot.com/dixie-chicks-2013-tour-dates/ |title=Dixie Chicks Announce 2013 Tour Dates|author=Whitaker, Sterling |date=19 August 2013 |work=The Boot |publisher= |accessdate=23 November 2013|archiveurl=http://www.freezepage.com/1385191995CEEOPLCAOB?url=http://theboot.com/dixie-chicks-2013-tour-dates/ |archivedate=23 November 2013}} Bandmember Emily Robison stated the tour was a way to thank Canadian fans for the warm response. She further stated: "We had such a great time playing for our Canadian fans this summer that we've been inspired to come back for more". Many media outlets reported the outing as a reunion tour. Frontwoman Natalie Maines squashed rumors, saying the band never formally split.

Critical reception
The tour received great reviews with its initial shows in Canada. For the concert at the Scotiabank Saddledome, Gerry Krochak (Calgary Sun) gave the show four out of five stars. He wrote, "The love and respect that fans have for the Dixie Chicks has been well earned — every step of the non-traditional way. It’s been seven years since the group released anything new, but here’s hoping [...]".{{cite web |url=http://www.calgarysun.com/2013/11/01/that-was--wow--dixie-chicks-rock-the-scotiabank-saddledome-in-stampede-make-up-show |title=That was ... wow — Dixie Chicks rock the Scotiabank Saddledome in Stampede make-up show|author=Krochak, Gerry |date=31 October 2013 |work=Calgary Sun |publisher=Quebecor |accessdate=23 November 2013|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20131103195501/http://www.calgarysun.com/2013/11/01/that-was--wow--dixie-chicks-rock-the-scotiabank-saddledome-in-stampede-make-up-show |url-status=dead |archivedate=3 November 2013}} In Winnipeg, Elisha Dacey (Metro News) gave the show three and a half out of five stars. She says, "Mayor jokes aside, the show was a stripped-down and laid back retrospective of the Chicks’ past four albums. It took a while before Maine’s voice was truly warmed up and settled down, but she proved her distinctive country voice was more than the warm alto early fans may be used to".{{cite web |url=http://metronews.ca/news/winnipeg/845935/the-dixie-chicks-bring-it-home-at-the-mts-centre-in-winnipeg/ |title=Review: Dixie Chicks take the long way around (and a shot at Rob Ford)|author=Dacey, Elisha |date=5 November 2013 |work=Metro News |publisher=Free Daily News Group Inc. |accessdate=23 November 2013|archiveurl=http://www.freezepage.com/1385193370JMCNKEONQG?url=http://metronews.ca/news/winnipeg/845935/the-dixie-chicks-bring-it-home-at-the-mts-centre-in-winnipeg/ |archivedate=23 November 2013}} For the final show in London, James Reaney (The London Free Press) wrote the group slowed no signs of animosity despite their controversial downfall. He went on to say, "Sunday night was a chance to celebrate the past and the present with fans cheering from the band’s arrival all the way to a huge ovation after a 90-minute main set".{{cite web |url=https://lfpress.com/2013/11/10/dixie-chicks-pack-budweiser-gardens-in-american-stars-first-london-appearance-in-seven-years |title=Dixie Chicks pack Budweiser Gardens in the first London appearance by the American stars in seven years|author=Reaney, James |date=11 November 2013 |work=The London Free Press |publisher=Québecor Média |accessdate=23 November 2013|archiveurl=http://www.freezepage.com/1385193790KJAMKQUORP?url=http://www.lfpress.com/2013/11/10/dixie-chicks-pack-budweiser-gardens-in-american-stars-first-london-appearance-in-seven-years |archivedate=23 November 2013}}
