The Louth Under-19 Football Championship is an annual competition organised by Louth GAA for Gaelic football teams in County Louth.
History
The competition was introduced to the Louth GAA calendar in 2023 and replaced the former Under-21 Championship. The aim is to bridge a perceived gap between underage and adult competitions and reduce player drop-off.{{cite web|url =https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/arid-40761369.html|title=Player dropoff since minor grade change a 'real area of concern' for GAA, says Johnny Kelly|work=Irish Examiner|date=8 December 2021}}{{cite web|url =https://www.independent.ie/regionals/louth/sport/gaa/louth-gaa-clubs-vote-to-retain-u17-grade-as-combination-teams-motion-triggers-debate-at-january-committee-meting/a1241604148.html|title=Louth GAA clubs vote to retain U17 grade as combination teams motion triggers debate at January committee meting|work=The Argus|date=12 January 2024}} As is the case nationally with underage football, amalgamated parish teams are a feature of the competition due to lack of numbers.{{cite web|url =https://www.southernstar.ie/sport/new-system-will-help-gaa-clubs-faced-with-challenge-of-population-decline-4218188|title=New system will help GAA clubs faced with challenge of population decline|work=The Southern Star|date=10 February 2021}}
