Career
Mariam took up rhythmic gymnastics after a friend of her mother's, who was a coach in the sport, encouraged her mom to sign her up for classes.{{Cite web |title=Mariam Chamilova {{!}} Canadian Athletes Now |url=https://canadianathletesnow.ca/athletes/mariam-chamilova/ |access-date=2024-08-07 |language=en-US}} In 2009 she was crowned Canadian junior champion.
