History
Mendix was founded in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, by Roald Kruit, Derek Roos, and Derckjan Kruit. Roald, a freelance software developer at the time, noticed a communication disconnect between software developers and end users, which often led to dissatisfaction with the developed applications. Using a visual development language, Mendix's founders wanted to create a platform that would enable better collaboration and understanding between developers and business users.{{citation |last=Rogers |first=Bruce |title=Mendix CEO Derek Roos Disrupts Enterprise Application World |url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucerogers/2013/09/12/mendix-ceo-derek-roos-disrupts-enterprise-application-world/ |access-date=2024-01-16 |website=Forbes |language=en}}{{citation |date=2018-08-01 |title=Siemens eyes IoT opportunity as it acquires low-code software developer Mendix |url=https://siliconangle.com/2018/08/01/siemens-eyes-iot-opportunity-acquires-low-code-software-developer-mendix/ |access-date=2024-04-03 |website=SiliconANGLE |language=en-US}}{{citation |last=Kutsche |first=Katharina |date=2020-05-05 |title=Programmieren mit Low Code – Apps aus dem Baukasten |url=https://www.sueddeutsche.de/wirtschaft/low-code-programmieren-plattformen-1.4891079 |access-date=2024-06-28 |website=Süddeutsche.de |language=de}}
