Between 1996 and 2000, Brown was one of the leaders in the Brownsville Revival, a Charismatic movement that began on June 18, 1995, at the Brownsville Assembly of God church in Pensacola, Florida. In 2000, though, the board removed Brown from his position as president of Brownsville Revival School of Ministry (BRSM).{{cite web|title=Major Split at Brownsville|url=http://www.sermonindex.net/modules/articles/index.php?view=article&aid=11041|website=Sermon Index|access-date=July 19, 2015|archive-date=January 1, 2018|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180101234441/http://www.sermonindex.net/modules/articles/index.php?view=article&aid=11041|url-status=live}}{{better source needed|date=July 2023}}

In 2001, Brown started the FIRE School of Ministry, a Charismatic leadership training institute heavily influenced by the revival movement from which Brown was removed. In 2005 Brown founded another revivalist organization called ICN Ministries. The organization intends to spread the revivalist message to places like Israel, other Christian organizations, and other places where Brown has influence.{{cite web|title=Author Profile|url=http://awakening1.org/authors/michael-l-brown/|website=Awakening the One New Man|access-date=2015-07-19|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150810073338/http://awakening1.org/authors/michael-l-brown/|archive-date=2015-08-10|url-status=dead}}{{better source needed|date=July 2023}}
