Breaking Down is an amateur kickboxing tournament organized by Mikuru. Street fighters, kickboxers, and mixed martial artists compete in short one-minute rounds. The event has gained popularity due to its underground entertainment and reality show aspect featuring the personalities of the fighters, but it has also been the subject of strong criticism due to the occasional low-level fights that occur as martial art and the criminal behavior of some of the fighters after their participation in the tournament.{{Cite web |title=若者が熱狂する「ブレイキングダウン」光と影 |url=https://toyokeizai.net/articles/-/635991?page=3 |website=東洋経済オンライン |date=2022-12-02 |access-date=2024-10-10 |language=ja}}{{Cite web |title=SNS時代の新格闘技、BreakingDownはなぜこれほど“バズる“のか |url=https://ssn.supersports.com/fighting/snsbreakingdown/ |website=Smart Sports News |date=2022-12-01 |access-date=2024-10-10 |language=ja}}{{Cite web |title=魔裟斗、RIZIN王者・鈴木千裕の「不良が格闘技の質を下げる」発言に同調「裾野がしぼんじゃうね。親が子供にやらせたくないからね」 |url=https://www.sanspo.com/article/20231106-CTE4JQC52ZCB7K4UPFUNYN4N74/?outputType=theme_fight |website=サンスポ |date=2023-11-06 |access-date=2024-10-04 |language=ja}}
