Ramdoss, better known as Munishkanth, is an Indian actor and comedian who appears in Tamil language films. He had notable roles in films, including Mundasupatti (2014), Maanagaram (2017), Maragadha Naanayam (2017) and Raatchasan (2018).
Career
Ramdoss came to Chennai from Oddanchatram in 2002, hoping to get a breakthrough as an actor in films and worked for several years as a junior artiste. Unable to get an immediate breakthrough, he moved to Malaysia for two years to work as a goldsmith before returning to Chennai and often slept homeless at Vadapalani temple. He became involved in short films, often portraying characters in the Naalaya Iyakkunar show on Kalaignar TV, and featured in Ram's original award-winning short film titled Mundasupatti by dubbing for the character of the aspiring actor, Munishkanth, at the insistence of his friend Kaali Venkat.{{cite AV media |url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JihbjQw4DTc&hd=1 |title='Mundasupatti' Muniskanth: Came to be Villain; Became Comedian {{!}} Interview, Ramdoss |date=28 July 2014 |work=IndiaGlitz Tamil |via=YouTube |access-date=20 October 2015 |archive-date=12 March 2016 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160312212105/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JihbjQw4DTc&hd=1 |url-status=live}}
He continued on the fringe of the film industry, appearing in small roles in Mani Ratnam's Kadal (2013) and C. V. Kumar's Soodhu Kavvum (2013) and Pizza 2: Villa (2013), before being given the chance to portray Munishkanth in Ram's feature film debut Mundasupatti (2014). The film became a critical and commercial success, with Ramdoss portrayal being highly acclaimed by critics.{{cite news |url=http://www.thehindu.com/features/cinema/cinema-reviews/mundasupatti-light-camera-action/article6114935.ece |title=Mundasupatti: Light, camera, action |author=Munishkanth |interviewer=Baradwaj Rangan |newspaper=The Hindu |date=14 June 2014 |url-access=subscription |access-date=20 October 2015 |archive-date=4 July 2014 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140704110209/http://www.thehindu.com/features/cinema/cinema-reviews/mundasupatti-light-camera-action/article6114935.ece |url-status=live}}{{cite web |url=http://silverscreen.in/tamil/features/balaji-unplugged-the-rj-balaji-interview/ |title=A Face to The Voice: The RJ Balaji Interview |interviewer=Neelima Menon |first1=RJ |last1=Balaji |work=Silverscreen.in |date=11 July 2014 |access-date=20 October 2015 |archive-date=18 November 2015 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20151118001804/http://silverscreen.in/tamil/features/balaji-unplugged-the-rj-balaji-interview/ |url-status=dead}} He has since been popularly known as "Munishkanth".{{Cite news |url=https://www.newindianexpress.com/entertainment/tamil/2017/jun/28/i-washed-cars-for-a-living-1621945.html |title='I washed cars for a living' |date=28 June 2017 |agency=Express News Service |work=The New Indian Express |author=Munishkanth |interviewer=Gopinath Rajendran |access-date=9 July 2018 |archive-date=9 July 2018 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180709153735/http://www.newindianexpress.com/entertainment/tamil/2017/jun/28/i-washed-cars-for-a-living-1621945.html |url-status=live}} He has since worked on films including 10 Endrathukulla (2015), Pasanga 2 (2015) and Maragadha Naanayam (2017).
