Nathalie Picqué (born Demeber 2, 1973) is a French physicist working at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics{{Cite web|url=https://www.mpq.mpg.de/person/34820/4571983|title=Dr. Nathalie Picqué | Max-Planck-Institute for Quantum Optics|website=www.mpq.mpg.de}} in the field Frequency Combs, where she studies ultra-high resolution spectroscopy using ultrashort pulses of light combined with Fourier-transform spectroscopy{{cite journal|doi=10.1038/nphoton.2008.293|title=Fourier transform spectroscopy with a laser frequency comb|year=2009|last1=Mandon|first1=Julien|last2=Guelachvili|first2=Guy|last3=Picqué|first3=Nathalie|journal=Nature Photonics|volume=3|issue=2|pages=99–102|bibcode=2009NaPho...3...99M}} to reveal the fine chemistry of samples, in particular in the mid-infrared,{{cite journal|doi=10.1038/nphoton.2012.142|title=Mid-infrared frequency combs|year=2012|last1=Schliesser|first1=Albert|last2=Picqué|first2=Nathalie|last3=Hänsch|first3=Theodor W.|journal=Nature Photonics|volume=6|issue=7|pages=440–449|arxiv=1205.3395|bibcode=2012NaPho...6..440S|s2cid=118495490}} demonstrating resolving power in excess of 1,000,000,000,000.

Education and career

Nathalie Picqué received{{Cite web|url=https://www.osa.org/en-us/awards_and_grants/fellow_members/recent_fellows/2019_fellows/|title=Recent Fellows - Awards & Grants – The Optical Society (OSA) | Optica}} a master's degree in laser physics from Paris-Sorbonne University (formerly known as Pierre and Marie Curie University) and Ecole Polytechnique, in Paris, France, and completed a doctoral degree in physics from Paris-Saclay University (formerly known as Université Paris-Sud), in Orsay, France in 1998. In 2000 she was awarded the Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship to work at the European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy in Florence, Italy. In 2001, she became a staff scientist at the French National Centre for Scientific Research in Orsay, France.{{citation needed|date=November 2020}}

She joined Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in 2008 as a part-time visiting scientist, before relocating her laboratory in Garching while becoming the leader of the research group.{{Cite web|url=https://econos-online.org/?page_id=255|title=Invited Speakers}} She is now a scientist in the Emeritus Group Laser Spectroscopy{{Cite web|url=http://www2.mpq.mpg.de/~haensch/|title=Homepage Prof. T.W. Haensch|website=www2.mpq.mpg.de}} at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in, Germany, where she works together with Nobel Prize laureate Theodor W. Hänsch on dual-combs spectroscopy.{{cite journal|doi=10.1073/pnas.2010878117|title=Photon-level broadband spectroscopy and interferometry with two frequency combs|year=2020|last1=Picqué|first1=Nathalie|last2=Hänsch|first2=Theodor W.|journal=Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences|volume=117|issue=43|pages=26688–26691|pmid=33055211|pmc=7604441|arxiv=1906.03706|bibcode=2020PNAS..11726688P|s2cid=182952751|doi-access=free}}
