History

Kean Cipriano, former frontman and lead vocalist of the alternative rock band Callalily, ventured into artist management with the indie alternative rock band IV of Spades. The band, known for their musicality, fashion, and artistic style, saw a rapid rise to fame, especially after the release of their hit song "Mundo". However, three months later, the band's lead vocalist, Unique Salonga, announced his departure to pursue a solo career.{{Cite web |last=Garcia |first=Rose |date=August 18, 2018 |title=Kean Cipriano speaks up about "sulutan" issue with former IV of Spades vocalist Unique Salonga |url=https://www.pep.ph/news/local/28354/kean-cipriano-speaks-up-about-sulutan-issue-with-former-iv-of-spades-vocalist-unique-salonga?s=ika46l5bt8a6g73hd623a9cjs7 |access-date=August 16, 2024 |website=PEP.ph}}{{Cite web |last=Padayhag |first=Michelle Joy L. |title=Did Unique Salonga just sign a solo record label? |url=https://www.cebudailynews.inquirer.net/181755/unique-salonga-just-sign-solo-record-deal/amp |access-date=August 16, 2024 |website=Cebu Daily News}}

Cipriano explained that after releasing "Mundo", he felt his role as their manager was complete and decided to leave. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity but cited the toxicity of the music industry as a reason for starting his own label.{{Cite web |last=IV |first=Franz Sorilla |title=Not to disrupt the scene (but maybe just a little)—Kean Cipriano talks about O/C Records |url=https://www.tatlerasia.com/lifestyle/entertainment/kean-cipriano-oc-records |access-date=2024-08-16 |website=Tatler Asia |language=en}}
