Ohinewai ({{langx|mi|Ōhinewai}}) is a small settlement in the Waikato Region, in New Zealand. The name {{lang|mi|Ohinewai}} is Māori for "girl's water place" (o = place of, hine = girl, wai = water),Reed, A.W. (1975). Place names of New Zealand. Wellington: A.H. & A.W. Reed. p. 295. or, more likely, "place of Hinewai", Hinewai being a female personal name.
In July 2019, bed manufacturer Comfort Group announced its intention to create an affordable housing estate in Ohinewai. Ohinewai had a population of 159 in the 2023 New Zealand census, a decrease of 3 people (−1.9%) since the 2018 census, and unchanged since the 2013 census. Marae
