Ophisurus macrorhynchos is an eel in the family Ophichthidae (worm/snake eels).[http://www.fishbase.org/summary/Ophisurus-macrorhynchos.html Ophisurus macrorhynchos] at www.fishbase.org. It was described by Pieter Bleeker in 1853.Bleeker, P., 1853-54 [ref. 339] Bijdrage tot de kennis der Muraenoïden en Symbranchoïden van den Indischen Archipel. Verhandelingen van het Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen. v. 25 (art. 5): 1-62+ 63-76. It is a marine, temperate water-dwelling eel which is known from the Indo-Western Pacific and Atlantic Ocean. Males can reach a maximum total length of {{convert|140|cm|in}}, but more commonly reach a TL of {{convert|60|cm|in}}.
O. macrorhynchos is of commercial interest to fisheries.
