The Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM; {{translation|"Party of the Laboring Masses"}}) is a democratic socialist political party in the Philippines.{{Cite web|url=https://www.manilatimes.net/2022/01/26/videos/bakit-ikaw-presidential-job-interview-ang-labor-leader-na-si-ka-leody-de-guzman/1830682|title = 'Bakit ikaw: Presidential Job Interview' ang labor leader na si Ka Leody de Guzman| website=The Manila Times |date = January 26, 2022}} Created in 2009, it includes as its affiliate the labor group Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino and is Sanlakas' political party for purposes of contesting non-party-list elections. It is the umbrella group of various organizations such as Zone One Tondo Organization (ZOTO) and Kongreso ng Pagkakaisa ng Maralita ng Lungsod (KPML).

The party fielded Leodegario "Ka Leody" de Guzman as its candidate for the 2022 presidential elections.{{Cite news|title=Former Defense chief, 'Ka Leody' open bids for president too|language=en|work=Manila Standard|url=https://manilastandard.net/mobile/article/366803|access-date=October 10, 2021}}{{Cite web|last=Sarao|first=Zacarian|date=September 28, 2021|title=Labor leader Leody de Guzman to run for president in 2022 elections|url=https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1494284/labor-leader-leody-de-guzman-to-vie-for-presidency-in-the-2022-elections|access-date=October 10, 2021|website=INQUIRER.net|language=en}}{{Cite web|title=Labor group leader Leody De Guzman running for president in 2022|url=https://www.cnn.ph/news/2021/9/28/Leody-De-Guzman-president-elections-2022.html|access-date=October 10, 2021|website=CNN Philippines|language=en}}

Political positions

PLM protested Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip during the Gaza War; a party member remarked that the airstrikes were "Israel's 'Final Solution' to the Palestine people."{{cite news |url=http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/nation/view/20090102-181100/RP-Muslims-protest-Israeli-air-strikes |archive-url=https://archive.today/20130413185407/http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/nation/view/20090102-181100/RP-Muslims-protest-Israeli-air-strikes |url-status=dead |archive-date=April 13, 2013 |title=RP Muslims protest Israeli air strikes |newspaper=Philippine Daily Inquirer |first=Miko L. |last=Morelos |date=January 2, 2009 |access-date=March 11, 2013 }} PLM remained neutral on the issue of postponing the 2011 elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), as a postponement only served to benefit the Liberal Party, while holding the elections would've only promoted the status quo. Instead, the party "supports the continuation of the peace negotiations between the Philippine government and the MILF and any group fighting for self-determination in Mindanao."{{cite news|url=http://opinion.inquirer.net/5997/an-elitist-%E2%80%98trapo%E2%80%99-armm-concern |title= An elitist, 'trapo' ARMM concern |newspaper=Philippine Daily Inquirer |date=June 9, 2011 |access-date=March 11, 2013}} The party also disapproved of giving former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo any special treatment against her criminal cases.{{cite news|url=http://www.sunstar.com.ph/manila/local-news/2011/11/21/government-won-t-oppose-hospital-arrest-arroyo-191734 |title= Government won't oppose hospital arrest for Arroyo |work=Sun.Star Manila |date=November 21, 2011 |access-date=March 11, 2013}}

On the impeachment of Renato Corona, aside from agreeing that the Chief Justice should be impeached, the party said that members of the Supreme Court of the Philippines are to be selected democratically.{{cite news|url=http://opinion.inquirer.net/19909/justices-should-be-picked-via-democratic-process |title= Justices should be picked via democratic process |newspaper=Philippine Daily Inquirer |date=December 28, 2011 |access-date=March 11, 2013}}

As a democratic socialist party, PLM participates in the political processes of the state, insisting on elections as a legitimate and viable means of achieving socialism. It opposes taking the extralegal route preferred and deemed necessary by Marxist–Leninist–Maoist national democrats.{{cite web|url=https://www.wesleyanarcadia.com/fall-2019/2020/2/2/capitalism-socialism-communism-and-the-difference-between-social-democracy-and-democratic-socialism|date=February 2, 2020|last=Cohen|first=Miles|title=Capitalism, Socialism, Communism and the Difference between Social Democracy and Democratic Socialism|magazine=Arcadia Political Review}} In the 2013 general election, the party supported Ricardo Penson's independent candidacy to the 2013 Senate election,{{cite news|url=http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/367769/ricardo-penson-seeks-to-represent-those-left-out |title=Ricardo Penson seeks to represent those left out |first=Jerome |last=Aning |newspaper=Philippine Daily Inquirer |date=March 3, 2013 |access-date=March 11, 2013}} as well as several candidates in local elections, including one candidate in the 2013 House of Representatives elections. For the 2022 general elections, the party fielded Ka Leody de Guzman for the Presidency, Walden Bello for the vice presidency, and Luke Espiritu, Roy Cabonegro, and David D'Angelo for the Senate.{{Cite web|title=Ex-lawmaker Walden Bello throws hat into VP race|url=https://www.cnnphilippines.com/news/2021/10/20/Walden-Bello-running-VP-with-Ka-Leody-2022.html|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20211020093354/https://cnnphilippines.com/news/2021/10/20/Walden-Bello-running-VP-with-Ka-Leody-2022.html|url-status=dead|archive-date=October 20, 2021|access-date=October 22, 2021|website=cnn|language=en}}{{Cite web|last=Guillang|first=Michelle R.|title=Labor leader unveils senatorial lineup|website=Daily Tribune |url=https://tribune.net.ph/index.php/2021/10/17/labor-leader-unveils-senatorial-lineup/|access-date=October 22, 2021|language=en-US}}
