On 23 August 2021, Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investments Affairs, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, encouraged the government to make this app a mandatory requirement before using public transportations, such as train, bus, ferry, and plane.{{Cite web|last=Rosana|first=Francisca Cristy|date=23 August 2021|title=Luhut Sebut Penumpang Bus hingga Kereta Api Kini Wajib Gunakan PeduliLindungi|url=https://bisnis.tempo.co/read/1497902/luhut-sebut-penumpang-bus-hingga-kereta-api-kini-wajib-gunakan-pedulilindungi/full&view=ok|website=Tempo.co|access-date=24 August 2021}}{{Dead link|date=October 2023 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }} Furthermore, citizen must have installed the app before entering shopping malls, factories, and sport venues.{{Cite web|date=23 August 2021|title=Naik Bus dan Kereta Api Wajib Pakai Aplikasi PeduliLindungi|url=https://www.cnnindonesia.com/ekonomi/20210823211148-532-684290/naik-bus-dan-kereta-api-wajib-pakai-aplikasi-pedulilindungi|website=CNN Indonesia|access-date=24 August 2021}} Every person who have received at least a dose of vaccine will receive a vaccine card and vaccination certificate which can be downloaded from the app.{{Cite web|last=|first=|date=2021-09-03|title=Cara Download Sertifikat Vaksin Covid-19 di PeduliLindungi|url=https://nasional.kompas.com/read/2021/09/03/17254711/cara-download-sertifikat-vaksin-covid-19-di-pedulilindungi|access-date=2021-09-04|website=KOMPAS.com|language=id}}

In December 2022, with the revocation of PPKM (Community Activities Restrictions Enforcement) starting from 1 January 2023, Ministry of Health issued a statement that the usage of the app is not a governmental mandatory requirement as it used to be.{{Cite web |title=Menkes: PPKM Dicabut, PeduliLindungi dan PCR Tidak Jadi Sesuatu yang Wajib |url=https://kumparan.com/kumparannews/menkes-ppkm-dicabut-pedulilindungi-dan-pcr-tidak-jadi-sesuatu-yang-wajib-1zXZn3s83IM |access-date=2023-01-24 |website=kumparan |language=id-ID}}

= Transition into a citizen health app =

On 7 September 2022, it was announced that the app would be modified to become a citizen health app, capitalising on the reach of the app and the existing work done around the app.{{Cite web |date=2022-09-08 |title=Indonesia Transitions PeduliLindungi into Citizen Health App - OpenGov Asia |url=https://opengovasia.com/indonesia-transitions-pedulilindungi-into-citizen-health-app/ |access-date=2023-03-11 |language=en-US}} On 28 February 2023, the authorities announced that the app was rebranded to SATUSEHAT Mobile ({{Literal translation|OneHealth Mobile}}), with existing users needing to update the PeduliLindungi app and re-synchronise their COVID-19 related health information.{{Cite web |date=2023-02-28 |title=Besok PeduliLindungi Resmi Bertransformasi Menjadi SATUSEHAT Mobile |url=https://sehatnegeriku.kemkes.go.id/baca/rilis-media/20230228/2042474/besok-pedulilindungi-resmi-bertransformasi-menjadi-satusehat-mobile/ |access-date=2023-03-11 |website=Sehat Negeriku |language=id-ID}} The re-branded app would eventually be an all-in-one health service and records retrieval app for Indonesians.{{Cite web |title=PeduliLindungi is now Satu Sehat following rebrand, but people say they're struggling to log in {{!}} Coconuts |url=https://coconuts.co/jakarta/news/pedulilindungi-is-now-satu-sehat-following-rebrand-but-people-say-theyre-struggling-to-log-in/ |access-date=2023-03-11 |website=Coconuts |language=en-US}}

Controversy

It was reported that the app requires access to the phone's files & media and GPS at all time, which quickly drains the battery. Giving location access only during use or no access will make the app unusable. This is in stark contrast to COVID-19 apps used in other countries which only use Bluetooth and do not require any additional permissions.{{Cite web|last=Dewi|first=Retia Kartika|last2=Hardiyanto|first2=Sari|date=2021-09-01|title=Aplikasi PeduliLindungi Disebut Sebabkan Baterai Ponsel Boros, Benarkah? In September 2021, stored personal data of at least 1.3 million Indonesian residents were leaked online, including the vaccine certificate of President Joko Widodo. The data leak was also reported on eHAC (electronic Health Alert Card), a mandatory app used for air passengers.{{Cite web|title=2 Data Leaks Reported in Indonesia's COVID-19 Tracking Apps|url=https://www.govinfosecurity.com/2-data-leaks-reported-in-indonesias-covid-19-tracking-apps-a-17478|access-date=2021-09-13|website=www.govinfosecurity.com|language=en}}
