Pocket Symphony is the fourth studio album by French electronic music duo Air, released on 5 March 2007 by Virgin Records. It features collaborations with Jarvis Cocker and Neil Hannon.{{cite web|url=https://www.nme.com/news/air/25095|title=Air and Jarvis team up|work=NME|date=17 November 2006|access-date=19 November 2006}} Pocket Symphony incorporates some of the Japanese instruments Godin had recently learned to play from an Okinawan master musician: the koto (also referred to as a Japanese floor harp) and the three-string, banjo-like shamisen. However, a press release claims that "conventional instruments continue to play a great role" in the duo's music.{{cite press release |url=http://www.pocket-symphony.com/img/pocketsymphonypr.doc |title=Pocket Symphony press release |access-date=29 January 2007 |format=doc |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070124002041/http://www.pocket-symphony.com/img/pocketsymphonypr.doc |archive-date=24 January 2007}} The album features art by Xavier Veilhan.
Pocket Symphony debuted at number 40 on the US Billboard 200, with 17,000 copies sold in its first week.{{cite magazine |url=https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/1053948/notorious-big-great-again-on-the-billboard-200 |title=Notorious B.I.G. Scores Another 'Great' On The Billboard 200 |magazine=Billboard |date=14 March 2007 |access-date=19 August 2019 |last=Hasty |first=Katie}} As of February 2012, it had sold 77,000 copies in the United States.{{cite magazine |url=https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/507331/air-over-the-moon-about-film-score-turned-full-album |title=Air Over 'The Moon' About Film Score Turned Full Album |magazine=Billboard |date=4 February 2012 |access-date=6 September 2017 |last=Mapes |first=Jillian}}
The term "pocket symphony" was popularised by English journalist Derek Taylor, who used it to describe the Beach Boys' 1966 single "Good Vibrations".
