Project funding

The central government has in the past funded projects for a term of no more than five years.{{cite web |url=http://www.szdo.cuhk.edu.hk/en-GB/research-funding/national-funding |title=National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program) |accessdate=2011-01-03 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110721085944/http://www.szdo.cuhk.edu.hk/en-GB/research-funding/national-funding |archivedate=2011-07-21 }} Recently, the funding model has changed to 2 + 3 years. Two years after the project has been implemented, it will be assessed by a special panel and allocate funding accordingly.
