Taxonomy

Prohegetotherium comprises three species, P. sculptum, P. schiaffinoi, and P. malalhuense. Although Prohegetotherium shumwayi and P. crassus have long been synonymized with P. sculptum, Kramarz and Bond (2017) restricted P. sculptum to the holotype, rejecting the synonymy.A. G.
