Prophalangopsis is a South Asian insect genus, in the family Prophalangopsidae, distantly related to crickets and other Ensifera, erected by Francis Walker in 1869.{{cite book |last=Walker |first=Francis |author-link=Francis Walker (entomologist) |title=Catalogue of the specimens of Dermaptera Saltatoria and supplement of the Blattari in the collection of the British Museum |publisher=The British Museum |publication-place=London |year=1869 |volume=Part 1 |doi=10.5962/bhl.title.8149 |doi-access=free |pages=100–101 |oclc=469668702 |url=https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/36510#page/118/mode/2up}} There is one species: Prophalangopsis obscura, which is a winged insect species found in North India and the Tibetan Plateau. It is one of only a few surviving species in the family Prophalangopsidae. F. Walker described it in 1869 from a single male specimen from India.{{efn|Walker identified the location as Hindustan, which is present-day India.
