Location and features

File:An eroded basalt cave formation. Purling Brook Falls, Springbrook National Park, 2022.jpg

The Purling Brook Falls are situated within the central section of Springbrook National Park as part of the Shield Volcano Group, at Springbrook which is part of the Gold Coast hinterland, south-west of Surfers Paradise.

After heavy rains the falling waters creates a spectacle that attracts large numbers of tourists. At these times the danger from falling rocks during landslides can be hazardous so barricades are erected to prevent walking along tracks that pass the base of the falls.{{cite web|url=http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2008/06/07/12187_gold-coast-feature.html|title=Walkers flirt with danger to visit falls|access-date=17 July 2009|date=7 June 2008|work=Gold Coast Bulletin }}{{Cite web |date=2020-06-04 |title=Journeys {{!}} Springbrook National Park |url=https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/springbrook/journeys |access-date=2023-01-02 |website=Parks and forests |publisher=Queensland Government |language=en-AU |archive-date=2 January 2023 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230102081254/https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/springbrook/journeys |url-status=live }}
