Roosevelt High School was a public high school in Dayton, Ohio, United States, that was part of the Dayton Public Schools. The school was named for U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt and opened in 1923. At the time of its construction, it was believed to have been the largest high school in the eastern U.S. Athletic teams competed in the Dayton City League and were known as the "Teddy Bears" or "Teddies" with school colors of red and white. The school closed in 1975 and the building was used for school district offices and other functions. It was demolished in 2008 to make way for the Dayton Boys Preparatory Academy, an elementary school for boys in grades kindergarten through eight, which opened in December 2010. Many architectural elements from the Roosevelt High School building were saved and incorporated into the new academy, and the area around the building is known as the Roosevelt Commons.{{cite web |title=Dayton Boys Preparatory Academy |url=http://www.dps.k12.oh.us/dayton-boys-prep/ |publisher=Dayton Public Schools |year=2015 |accessdate=August 31, 2015}}{{cite book |title=A brief history of Dayton Boys Preparatory Academy at Roosevelt Commons |url=http://www.dps.k12.oh.us/documents/contentdocuments/document_23_5_1099.pdf |format=PDF |publisher=Dayton Public Schools |accessdate=August 31, 2015 |year=2011}}{{cite news |title=$23M project planned for school site |url=http://www.bizjournals.com/dayton/stories/2008/10/13/story4.html |magazine=Dayton Business Journal |date=October 13, 2008 |author=Lehman, Mary Beth |accessdate=August 31, 2015}}{{cite news |title=New school should carry Roosevelt name and spirit, alumni say |url=http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/news/local/new-school-should-carry-roosevelt-name-and-spirit-/nM7dh/ |author=Gottschlich, Anthony |date=December 23, 2009 |accessdate=October 30, 2015 |newspaper=Dayton Daily News}}
