Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic gave the album three and a half stars out of five saying, "McCreery has an easy touch -- where he used to lean into his influences on his ear lies records, he leans back now -- which gives these mellow, melodic tunes a gentle, welcoming feel." "Damn Strait" was released on October 18, 2021, as the second single. It peaked at number one on the Country Airplay Chart where it stayed for three weeks. It reached number six on the Hot Country Songs chart.
