Selenium dibromide is a compound made of one selenium and two bromine atoms. It is unstable. No solid form of the compound has been discovered but it is a component of the equilibria in the vapour above selenium tetrabromide ({{chem2|SeBr4}}) and in nonaqueous solutions.{{Greenwood&Earnshaw2nd|pages=768, 771–772}} In acetonitrile solution, selenium reacts with {{chem2|SeBr4}} to form an equilibrium mixture containing {{chem2|SeBr2}}, {{chem2|Se2Br2}} and {{chem2|Br2}}.{{ cite journal | first1 = Ralf | last1 = Steudel | first2 = Detlef | last2 = Jensen | first3 = Frank | last3 = Baumgart | title = 77Se-NMR and raman spectroscopic characterization of selenium dibromide (SeBr2) and its reaction with titanocene pentasulphide to give cyclic selenium sulphides of ring size 6, 7, 8, and 12 | journal = Polyhedron | volume = 9 | issue = 9 | year = 1990 | pages = 1199–1208 | doi = 10.1016/S0277-5387(00)86896-5 }} This covalent compound has a bent molecular geometry in the gas phase.{{cite journal |last1= Shlykov |first1= Sergey A. |last2= Titov |first2= Anton V. |last3= Oberhammer |first3= Heinz |last4= Giricheva |first4= Nina I. |last5= Girichev |first5= Georgiy V. |title= The molecular structure of selenium dibromide as determined by combined gas-phase electron diffraction–mass spectrometric experiments and quantum chemical calculations |journal= Phys.
