History

Shabab Sahel was established in 1966 in Haret Hreik, a district in Beirut, Lebanon.{{Cite web|title=تاريخ النادي|url=https://shababalsahel.com/core/%D8%AA%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%AE-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%AF%D9%8A/|access-date=2020-12-20|website=شباب الساحل|language=ar|archive-date=3 June 2023|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230603171459/https://shababalsahel.com/core/%D8%AA%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%AE-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%AF%D9%8A/|url-status=live}} Sherif Salim was the club's first chairman, while Hassan Hatoum was its first secretary. Within three years, the club was promoted from the Third Division to the Second Division to the Premier League. However, the Lebanese Football Association didn't approve of their promotion to the top flight.

During the Civil War, Shabab Sahel were first promoted to the Premier League. Despite being relegated back to the Second Division, they were promoted back up the following season.

The club won their first title in 2000, defeating Safa 5–4 on penalties in the Lebanese FA Cup after a 1–1 draw. In 2008–09 they reached the finals, but were defeated 2–0 by Ahed. In the 2010–11 season Shabab Sahel defeated Salam Zgharta 2–0 in the quarter-finals, but lost 2–1 in the semi-final to Safa at the Rafik Hariri Stadium in Sidon.{{cite web|url=http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-247375420.html|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140921201034/http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-247375420.html|url-status=dead|archive-date=21 September 2014|title=Shabab al-Sahel, Ahed win place in Lebanese Cup semi finals|publisher=The Daily Star, Lebanon|date=24 January 2011|access-date=22 April 2013}}{{cite web|url=http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-253599919.html|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140921201036/http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-253599919.html|url-status=dead|archive-date=21 September 2014|title=Safa set to face Ahed in Lebanese Cup final|publisher=The Daily Star, Lebanon|date=9 April 2011|access-date=22 April 2013}}
