Description
Sharkstooth Peak is located {{convert|17|mi|km}} northwest of the community of Durango on land managed by San Juan National Forest. It is situated in the La Plata Mountains which are a subrange of the Rocky Mountains. Neighbors include Centennial Peak, {{convert|0.91|mi|km}} to the south-southwest, Lavender Peak, {{convert|1.35|mi|km}} to the south-southwest, and Hesperus Mountain {{convert|1.36|mi|km}} to the southwest. The mountain's toponym has been officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names.
