Shuangliu, Chengdu

In 127 BCE, the area was administered as Guangdu County ({{Lang-zh|c=广都县}}). In 9 CE, the county was renamed to Jiudu Pavilion ({{Lang-zh|c=就都亭}}), and in 58 CE, its named was reverted to Guangdu County. In 352 CE, the area was reorganized as {{Interlanguage link|Ningshu Commandery|zh|宁蜀郡}}. In 559 CE, under the Northern Zhou, Ningshu Commandery was abolished and replaced by Shu Commandery and Guangdu County was once again restored. In 601, under the Sui dynasty, Shuangliu County was established within Shu Commandery.

On March 1, 2016, Shuangliu County was upgraded to Shuangliu District.

As a district, Shuangliu is headed by a Party Committee Secretary ({{zh|s=书记 |t=書記 |p=shūjì}}).
