History

Formed in 2009, alternative rock band Skysaw featured Jimmy Chamberlin along with Mike Reina and Anthony Pirog. Reina and Pirog fronted a Washington DC–based psych-pop ensemble called The Jackfields. Reina was introduced first to Chamberlin through a mutual acquaintance, and through him, Pirog. The band name is a reference to the song "Sky Saw", the opening track of Brian Eno's album Another Green World.{{cite interview|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trOxYyaGMS0&t=2m42s|title=The Smashing Pumpkins - What's In My Bag? The band released its debut full-length album, Great Civilizations, in June 2011.{{Cite web|url=https://www.allmusic.com/album/great-civilizations-mw0002150320|title=Great Civilizations - Skysaw {{!}} Songs, Reviews, Credits {{!}} AllMusic|publisher=AllMusic|access-date=2016-09-13|archive-date=2016-09-13|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160913043641/http://www.allmusic.com/album/great-civilizations-mw0002150320|url-status=live}}{{Cite web|url=https://www.spin.com/2011/04/listen-ex-pumpkin-jimmy-chamberlins-new-band/|title=LISTEN: Ex-Pumpkin Jimmy Chamberlin's New Band {{!}} SPIN|publisher=Spin|date=April 7, 2011|access-date=2016-09-13|archive-date=2016-09-13|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160913043952/http://www.spin.com/2011/04/listen-ex-pumpkin-jimmy-chamberlins-new-band/|url-status=live}}
