A skyspace is an architectural design in which a room, which is painted in a neutral color has a large hole in its ceiling which opens directly to the sky. The room, whose perimeter has benches, allows observers to look at the sky in such a way as though it were framed. LED lights which surround the hole can change colors to affect the viewer's perception of the sky.{{cite web|url=http://www.pomona.edu/museum/exhibitions/skyspace.shtml|title=James Turrell Skyspace - Dividing The Light|publisher=Pomona College Museum of Art|access-date=4 February 2011|url-status=dead|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110228121137/http://www.pomona.edu/museum/exhibitions/skyspace.shtml|archive-date=28 February 2011}}{{cite journal|last=Plagens|first=Peter|year=2007|title=SkyHigh|journal=Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel 10|volume=1|issue=60}}{{cite journal|date=Nov 2007|title=Turrell Skyspace at Pomona|journal=Artweek |location=ArtWeek|volume=38|issue=9|page=24|issn=0004-4121}}{{cite journal|last=Stolz|first=George|date=June 2009|title=Bringing the Sky to Earth|journal=ARTnews|volume=108|issue=6|pages=44–45}}
